About & Contact

When I was in first grade I made an autobiography entitled "Joanna's Happy World." That title is a pretty good picture of something I strive to embody: a positive attitude.

This is a blog about "real food". Sometimes real food is defined by what it is not: processed, refined, sprayed with pesticides, genetically modified, injected with hormones. But it's easy to get bogged down by a list of don'ts. So here at Plus Other Good Stuff you'll read about the good food our family eats, without too much emphasis on the evils of industrial food. You'll be encouraged to make small steps toward healthier eating, without a guilt trip for that box of mac and cheese in your cupboard. You'll learn about the joys of bread made from scratch in your own kitchen, heirloom tomatoes from your own backyard, milk straight from the cow, and grass-fed beef from the farmer down the road.

As for the actual "about me": I am the wife of Steven, a language-learning, art-making, deep-thinking, humor-loving seminarian. I am the mother of Caedmon, a ukelele-playing, letter-identifying, real-food-eating toddler, and Esther, the sweetest and cuddliest newborn daughter I could have asked for.  I am a Christian, a homemaker, a dancer, and a lover of homemade, natural things. And I currently spend my days covered in spit up and surrounded by Tinkertoys.
